Business was picking up in the 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross an FIM World Championship as the tour charged into Arlington, Texas. The storylines were running rampant as Jason Anderson had won two in a row, Ken Roczen had fallen out with an injured hand while Eli Tomac and Marvin Musquin were racing their way back into the championship picture after early difficulties. There was still a lot of uncertainty in the air, but on this night for Round 7 there was zero doubt who was the man.
AT&T Stadium is a spectacle in itself what with its gigantic double sided jumbotron display and over a billion dollars in state of the art venue. Racers, fans and teams all look forward to the stop and a large crowd was on hand to take in the action.
The stage was set for a Texas sized battle, but one man would prove to be the clear alpha male in this contest. Perfect days are hard to come by, but that is exactly what Eli Tomac put together. He nailed down the fastest qualifying time, won his heat race, pulled the holeshot in the main event and led every lap on his way to taking the checkered flag.
It was an off night for the red plate holder Jason Anderson who went down in the main event but salvaged a respectable 4th place finish overall. Meanwhile Tomac’s dominance begged the question, “Could he win himself back into the title picture?” He had a long way to go as the Monster Energy Supercross Championship was now up to full song!
