HRC Honda's Ken Roczen suffered a compound fracture to his left forearm in a heavy crash Saturday night in Anaheim, Calif.
Roczen, who entered the race as the championship leader, was running in third when he was ejected from his bike over a triple jump. The German was immediately assisted by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit and helped off the track.
He was later transported to a local hospital where it was determined that he had suffered the forearm injury.
"Word from the hospital is that Roczen has suffered a compound fracture to the left forearm," said in a statement. "Everyone at Honda is wishing him the best!"
We extend our best wishes to Roczen and wish him a safe recovery.
UPDATE -- January 23 at 2:30 p.m. ET
Roczen has released the following update on Instagram:
"Dislocated wrist, dislocated elbow and compounded radius. The first 30h absolutely sucked as none of the pain killers worked and it was really swollen. Gonna need few surgeries to get all this dialed.
"I have gotten so many messages and was so pleased to read all of them. I didn't message back as the circumstances right now are just a bit gnarly and it would probably take me a day to reply lol. Just know i saw them! Love all you! Gonna need a few days for further info."
